Keep Up the Great Work!

Hey 5th Graders! I had SO much fun with you in Chug Ivrit this week. We played some new Hebrew games, and learned a new vowel sound! Remember: when you see a Hebrew vowel that is O ver a letter, you should say " O h!" For homework this week, practice reading (out loud!) all the lines from the Rhyme Time activity on the top of page 16 in your book. Then, call my Google Voice number  (202) 810-2816  and read it out loud for me! Can't wait to see you next week.

We're on a Roll!

Wow! We totally rocked it this week! In class, we worked through Alef Bet Quest Lesson 2, and part of Lesson 3. That means we covered letters: Alef, Ayin, Bet, Lamed, AND Dalet! My 5th graders are true rockstars. For homework this week, please   practice  reading (out loud!) lines 1-6 on the bottom of page 13.   Then , call my   Google Voice Number  (202) 810-2816 and read lines 4-6 out loud. I'll get the voicemail recording straight to my email, and we'll go over it next week. Please remember to bring your books back and forth with you to class each week! Thanks so much. -Liza

Getting Started!

What an awesome second week of class! This week, we did Lesson 1 in Aleph Bet Quest and focused on letters shin, mem, and final mem. For homework this week, please practice  reading lines 1-3 on the top of page 7. Then , call my Google Voice Number  (202) 810-2816 and read the lines out loud. I'll get the voicemail recording straight to my email, and we'll go over it next week. We're off to a great start! Can't wait to see you all again soon.

Welcome to Chug Ivrit!

Shalom Families, Welcome to 5th Grade Chug Ivrit! My name is Liza Pugh and I’m so excited to be teaching your child’s Chug Ivrit class this year. This will be my fifth year teaching Hebrew at Temple Sinai and I am thrilled to be back. I also wear a different hat here at Temple Sinai, which is the Religious School Assistant Director! When I’m not at work though, I’m usually hiking with my puppy (see below), or facetiming with my nieces and nephews! During our first class, we will spend some time getting to know each other and write down our Hopes and Dreams for Chug Ivrit this year. I'm excited to learn students’ answers to the question, “What are you hoping to accomplish this year in Chug Ivrit?” We will also play a few games to get us ready for a great year of Hebrew learning! I look forward to working with your child this year. If you have any questions or concerns now or as the year progresses, please reach me at lpugh@templesinaidc.org. Thank you so much and I’m excit
